Victorian-based conversion company Harrison F-Trucks has launched its 2015 Ford F-Series Superduty range in Australia, boasting even more grunt and extra towing ability.
The 2015 F-Series Super Duty range – which includes F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 models – is powered by the second-generation 6.7-litre ‘Power Stroke’ V8 turbo diesel with 328kW and 1166Nm, up 30kW and 82Nm on the old version.
The upgraded engine features a larger turbocharger for increased airflow, and its positioning between the engine’s cylinder banks improves turbo responsiveness and leads to reductions in noise, vibration and harshness levels.
The F-450 tops the pick-up body style range with its maximum fifth-wheel/gooseneck towing capacity increasing to 14.1 tonnes (up 2.9 tonnes), while its gross combined weight rating rises to 18.1 tonnes (up 3.1 tonnes).
Allowing it to handle the increased tow rating are commercial-grade 19.5-inch wheels and tyres, and upgraded rear U-joints and suspension components with new leaf springs, front and rear anti-roll bars and shock absorbers. The steering system has stronger gears and linkages, the fifth-wheel/gooseneck an increased towing capacity, and the brakes are larger and feature a new ABS calibration.
The maximum fifth-wheel/gooseneck towing capacity of the F-350 variant also increases to 12.1 tonnes (up 1.6 tonnes), while its gross combined weight rating rises 2.0 tonnes to 15.8 tonnes.
It’s also available with a high-capacity towing package with new front springs and a wide track axle.
The 2015 Ford F-Series Superduty range is available at Harrison F-Truck’s Melbourne and Sunshine Coast dealerships, with pricing starting at $105,000 for the F-250 4×2 regular cab, excluding statutory charges, dealer costs and delivery.
